A COVID Wedding

(2020)

My piece "A COVID Wedding" explores the bittersweet relationship we have with the interaction between advancing technology and humanity, especially during COVID. During this pandemic, many plans and dreams were crushed, with Zoom, people have been finding ways to make up for what they lost. I related to this a lot: I felt that I lost a lot of my last semester of high school, as well as the traditional college freshman experience. Additionally, like many others, I lost a lot of the simple, in-person contact that I always used to take for granted -- this is what ultimately inspired my piece. I wanted to show the resilience that humans have in the middle of a pandemic and how we can still find happiness through unorthodox ways.

This piece was done by screenshotting the layout of a Zoom Room. Then I drew the faces digitally and inputted text.
