I'm Mandy: an artist and biomedical engineer.
Born and raised in Tokyo and Hong Kong, I was always interested in art and the life sciences. I then studied biomedical engineering at the University of Michigan (B.S.E.) and the Johns Hopkins Center for Bioengineering Innovation & Design (M.S.E.). I always found ways to create art, though, so my technical and artistic interests became deeply intertwined. My artistic eye plays a role in my engineering practice, and engineering serves as a medium to expand my art. I now find ways to combine those with biomedical themes.
Overall, my art is exploratory and playful. I enjoy experimenting with new techniques and continuously evolving as an artist.
I am always excited about collaboration and freelance opportunities. Please contact me if you are interested.
