BlueLink is a multimedia-based education resource developed by Dr. B. Kathleen Alsup and Dr. Glenn M. Fox of the Division of Anatomical Sciences at the University of Michigan Medical School. BlueLink includes cadaveric photographs, comprehensive lab manuals, and interactive files with click-to-reveal testing capabilities. Future expansion goals include demonstrative videos, computer-generated conceptual images, educational screencasts, and interactive online modules.
From my time working as a research assistant at BlueLink, I pioneered these 3D skeletal animations. These are a part of BlueLink’s virtual reality initiative, which uses photogrammetry to transform real medical specimens from Michigan Medicine’s anatomy lab into interactive 3D models. These animations aim to enhance students’ understanding of anatomy, support educators in explaining complex concepts, and offer visualizations that are not supported through traditional in-person learning.
