PAINT POURS

I explore the fluid and ephemeral nature of water. It appears timeless and infinite in its presence. Yet it is fleeting, from the moment a wave crashes on a shoreline, to the way sunlight dances momentarily on the water before shifting.

This practice is very grounded in spontaneity, and it is very subject to change at any moment. I pour acrylic paint onto a canvas. guiding the paint flow. It is a process so fluid and unpredictable; like water, it can change at any time. With the fast-drying nature of acrylic, a fluid and spontaneous medium that is prone to change loses to time and is preserved: still looking like it's moving even though it's not. For some pieces, I incorporate this method with traditional painting elements (e.g. seascapes).
